Gary was born on May 4, 1949 in Midland, Texas.  Gary learned real soon that growing up in Texas and athletics were one in the same.  As he grew older, Gary was inducted into the high-caliber, adrenaline pumping, super competitive Texas sports scene.  It wasn't until high school that Gary experienced the raw taste of competition.  Over the years Gary Gaines has left a legacy for new high school coaches.  His gentle but competitive nature captured the attention and hearts of his football players.  His reputation in high school sports was built by a set of principles that caught the attention of high schools throughout Texas.  As a result of his coaching popularity, Gary was recruited by an anslaught of school districts hoping to gain his wisdom and coaching style.  Gary served as head coach at seven different high schools, all of which he developed into successful programs.

During his highly successful coaching career, Gary has recruited and coached NFL players including Zach Thomas of the Detroit Lions and Danieal Manning of the Chicago Bears.  He has developed numerous players who went on to become assets on Division I football rosters.  All that being said, Gary is a proven leader among men and has a passion for expanding on the strengths and developing the shortcomings of individuals.
